Jump Start 4 Kindergarten is an initiative of the CHILD Network.  It is an early childhood data collection and program improvement system throughout Carlton County.  Participating program use data collected to individualize programming for the children in the program to improve their readiness for kindergarten.

Currently we have school readiness, private preschools, child care center, and home child care providers participating.

  • The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation has chosen Jump Start 4 Kindergarten/CHILD Network Data Tracking program as a finalist for the 2013 Touchstone Awards.  The Touchstone Award recognizes and celebrates programs or projects for their leadership in transforming problems into opportunities and service into action. Each year, a selection committee reviews recently completed grants and the winners are chosen from a group of outstanding finalists that have gone above and beyond to improve the region by fostering Generosity, Civic Engagement and Inclusiveness.  Of the six finalists, four awards will be announced at this annual celebration, this year held on October 29th, starting at noon in the Harborside Ballroom at the DECC.  Jump Start 4 Kindergarten was nomoinated under the Civic Engagement category.  Information can be found at http://www.dsacommunityfoundation.com/meet-the-2013-touchstone-finalists
  • The Northland Foundation has awarded the Jump Start 4 Kindergarten program a grant in the amount of $20,000 for the 2013-14 program year.  Funds will be used to continue operations of the data collection program and support the purchase of updated assessment materials to be used with 4 year-olds and kindergartners throughout Carlton County.  Many thanks to the Northland Foundation for their support in getting kids in Carlton County ready for kindergarten!
